The Dinosaurs All the Way Down<\/a> insert extends our existing Dinosaur Island insert to provide storage for both the Dinosaur Island board game as well as it’s Totally Liquid (TL) expansion.\u00a0 The quantity and size of the Totally Liquid specific game pieces are significantly smaller than the size of the Totally Liquid box, so we’ve had to make some design choices on how to keep as closely as possible to the goal of no shifting in the box and having a nice tight configuration.<\/p>

Since TL has a collection of new pieces that are simply added to the base game, our goal has been to absorb those additional pieces into the existing Dinosaur Island box, and then use the TL box to store all the pieces related to the expansions (including the 5th player option).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

For storing the Totally Liquid expansion pieces, we decided to leverage the existing cardboard insert that shipped with the game in order to help control shifting in the box.\u00a0 Doing this necessitated making some small modifications to the insert, which are described below.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The insert was designed to fit in the space created by combining the two largest sections in the cardboard insert.\u00a0 To do this, we need to remove the cardboard wall and the side spacer sections, as identified below.<\/p>

It’s actually easier than it might seem, due to the efficiencies in how the cardboard is folded.<\/p>

Here is how to modify the cardboard insert:<\/p>

  1. Remove all game pieces from the TL box so you are left with just the insert, as shown below.

  2. Carefully remove the insert from the box base and set it out on a cutting surface.\u00a0 \u00a0Don’t unfold anything yet, but you’ll need some space on either side to unfold a portion of the insert.<\/li>
  3. Flatten out the sides \/ walls of the large sections as shown below, but leave the bottom spacer wall in place.\u00a0 (The right side\u00a0 flattens out quite a bit\u00a0 since it includes the center wall and the side spacer).

  4. Basically, you just want to cut off the portions of cardboard that stick out on either side of the insert.\u00a0 Once you cut them off, do not throw them away, you’ll need them in the next step.<\/strong><\/em> You have two options, choose whichever is easiest:
    1. Cut along the cardboard fold that is closest to, but not past, the edge (this is what I did) OR<\/li>
    2. Cut them to exactly match the side profile of the rest of the insert
      \"\"<\/a><\/li><\/ol><\/li>
    3. Once you’ve cut off the pieces, put the original insert back in the box and lay the cut off pieces on top of the bottom of the now much larger, single area.

    4. Your Done!<\/strong>\u00a0 The extra pieces of cardboard just provide some additional filler for the bottom and will stay in place simply from the weight of the inserts.<\/li><\/ol><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
