Aside from the above, the insert has all the Hardback goodness you get with the original insert:
Here is space for 5 hardbacks inside a hardback that fits inside Hardback the game. Of course, there is also room for all the rest of the pieces.
I backed Hardback through Kickstarter and we enjoy playing it. While the box is quite compact, I was still looking for some way to jettison the baggies and make it even easier to set up.
So, here you have it. An empty case tailored to fit all the game pieces for Hardback the game and still fit within the box.
The case is reminiscent of a hardback and the inside has room for ink, ink remover, all the hardback player tokens, and a slot for the first player ink well token. The larger compartment is for the ink tokens (black) and the smaller is for the ink remover tokens (white).
Setup is easy. Just take off the cover, select your hardback colors and deploy the first player token. You are now all set. Draw from the ink and ink remover bins as necessary.
The case is just wide enough to fit between the manual and prestige tracker board. It will also fit when the player cards are on either side, but the optimal fit is when the player cards are shoved to the opposite end. Additionally, this is just thick enough to comfortably fit with sleeved cards.
NOTES:
- The first player marker has a distinctive “arch”. When placing it in the slot, be sure to have the center of the “arch” pointing upward. Basically the feather end should be near the hardback slots and the inkwell towards the ink remover bin. Otherwise, you’ll have to tip the base upside down to get the first player marker out.
- If you have not sleeved your cards, there will be some extra space in the box. I would recommend using some of the original packing foam (or something similar) to fill in the space and keep everything upright. If you have sleeved cards, this should fit just within the remaining space in the box.
NOTE
Games pieces shown in the photos are for reference only. The buyer is expected to provide their own game pieces.
Hot Car Warning
These inserts are printed in plastic, and like children, pets, and wine, a hot car can be detrimental to their health. Please do not leave your insert in a hot car. Components of the insert could warp or deform.

Perfect organizer for all the little bits that come with hardback, makes setup much easier, and looks great in the process.

Fits like a glove, and I love the book design. Was this made with a two-color printer?

It’s a nifty little insert to organize the little bits that get lost in hte box. It is a cute little box. The only suggestion I would make for an impreovement is to somehow add a snapping mechanism to keep it shut as you are packing and unpacking the game. other than that, thisis a cool little enhancement to the game!

Excellent insert and storage solution for hardback. Ray provided excellent communication and was eager to make sure everything worked for me.
