Here are some tips and tricks for getting the most out of our Tomb of the Pharaohs insert designed to hold the Luxor base game and expansions.
The inserts can be grouped in to 3 basic sets as shown in the below picture:
- Set 1
- Base Game Tiles (blue)
- Mummy’s Cube (red)
- Set 2
- Player Tray (Blue)
- Queenie Tall Tray (Gold)
- Queenie Short Tray (Gold)
- Set 3
- Card Trays (Blue)
- Draw Bag box (Blue)
- Token Tray (Blue)
- Token Tray (Red)
By keeping each of these sets as a unit, they can be arranged in the box in any order
To load the box:
- Load the three sets in the box following the groupings defined above.
- Put the player board on top of them
- Put the thin red Mummy’s board insert on top of the player board, to one side of the box
- Add all the remaining player boards and Queenie rule books next to the Mummy’s board insert
- Place the remaining rule books on top
As is, the trays should maintain their position in the box, regardless of how the box is oriented. There is one “feature” of the original box insert that creates a small amount of additional space towards the top of the area where the inserts reside, vs the bottom of the area.
The below diagram shows how this occurs. Basically, the design of the original insert has slightly slanted walls that presumably make it easier to retrieve pieces from the box
The impact of this design, is that, depending on how you load the sets of trays, some of the higher trays may shift a small amount during transport. This shift shouldn’t be enough to enable any pieces to get loose, but if you want to reduce the chances of the shifting, we recommend placing two small pieces of corrugated cardboard between the box and the insert as shown below
