Verdant Sanctuary Tips and Tricks for our Emberleaf insert

Here are some tips and tricks for getting the most out of our Verdant Sanctuary – Standard and Verdant Sanctuary – Deluxe inserts for Emberleaf.

Standard vs Deluxe Insert

Emberleaf was published with no less than 4 different versions, 3 versions use a smaller box than the 4th version (Deluxe). Consult the below Tip to help you determine which version is right for you

Should I get the Standard or Deluxe version of the Verdant Sanctuary insert?

Verdant Sanctuary – Standard was designed for the Base Game, Retail, and regular Kickstarter versions of Emberleaf, which come in a shorter box than the Deluxe version of Emberleaf.  Verdant Sanctuary – Deluxe was designed for, and requires, the deeper Deluxe box.

See the below table for clarification on which expansions are supported by which version of the insert.

What is the best way to load/pack the Verdant Sanctuary - Deluxe insert into the game box?
  1. To start, decide which version of the fellowship boards you wish to include.  While the Emberleaf box is fairly large, there isn’t room for all the inserts plus both versions (neoprene and cardboard) of the fellowship boards. Place the chosen fellowship boards in the bottom of the empty box.
    2. Next, place the game board on top of the fellowship boards3. Next, place 4 of the player trays, the bag of colors tray, along with the 1 Solo card tray, hero card tray, and the two favors card trays on top of the board.
    4. Add the general buildings tray, the stone, food and wood resource trays, then the final player tray and the beehive tray on top of the player trays.  Distribute the remaining solo card tray, two starter card trays, and the reference card tray across the tops of the solo card tray, hero card tray and the two favor card trays.
    5. Next, place the trophy track and the general buildings board on top of the general buildings tray and the resource trays.  Place the green and blue cloth bags, folded, in the area on top of the bag of colors tray. Tuck the top (with the draw string) of the small red bag between the card trays and the single player tray / beehive resource tray.  Slide it down as much as possible.
    6. Place the large red bag on top of the boards / small red bag, shifting the wooden tiles so they are preferably 1 (no more than 2) tiles high.  Position the drawstring across the tops of the card trays
    7. Finally place the rule book across the topNow, you are ready for the lid

  2. Next, place the game board on top of the fellowship boardsThe game board is slightly smaller than the box, and consequently leaves a gap along one side.  Orient the box so the gap is on the left-hand side as shown below
  3. Next, place 4 of the player trays, along with the General Buildings tray, the remaining player tray, the food resource tray, and the white spacer on top of the board as shown.
    4. Place the General Buildings game board as well as the trophy board as shown below.  The General Buildings board should cover the General Buildings tray.
    5. Next place the card trays along with the Stone resource tray and the remaining two resource trays on top of the player trays and boards. The red bag of dangerous areas is placed between the last two resource trays.  It is recommended to put the bulk of the bag on top of the player tray.
    6. If you have the Trophies and Bonuses Expansion, place the green and blue bags in the same area as the red bag, folding and stuffing them as necessary.
    7. Finally place the rule book across the top, aligned to cover the card trays.
How do I use the General Buildings Tray?

The general buildings tray holds the 5 types of general buildings and is designed to be placed directly on the general buildings board.

Additionally, it stores the two versions of the Trophy track markers (grey disk and grey banner) on each end of the tray.

Tip:  when picking up the tray, grab it between two stacks of general building tiles.

The Verdant Sanctuary – Deluxe insert design is based on the use of the Gamegenics standard sleeves (Grey – 66 x 91 mm)

The Verdant Sanctuary – Standard design does not support sleeved cards.  The card trays are not sized to support the additional length and width of card sleeves.
