Karve Tips and Tricks

Here are some Tips and Tricks for using the Karve board game insert for storing all the components of the Explorers of the North Sea and its expansion – Rocks of Ruin.

Well, first of all, run down to your FLGS and buy the Rocks of Ruin expansion.  It really opens up the game with new things!

Until you get the expansion, the Rocks of Ruin box will be empty, and the tile tray won’t be completely full.  Additionally, you won’t have the extra score pad nor the stack of dashboards.

Everything can just be left empty and you should be fine.  The only shortcoming will be the missing stack of dashboards, which will cause open area in the top of the box and then components will slide around and get mixed up.

To solve that problem, get a stack of cardboard or foam that measures the size of the stack.

8 1/4″ long x 5 1/2″ wide x 3/8″ high

OR

210 mm x 140 mm x 10 mm

The best approach is to first put in the 5 player trays and the Settlements and Ships box.  These are all the same size, and should be placed on the bottom in two rows of three.

Next put in the livestock, rocks of ruin, and captains pad inserts.

Finally, put in the tile tray in the remaining space.

At this point place the Runesaga tiles and other small tiles on top of the captain’s pad and livestock inserts (next to, but not overlapping, the tile tray).

After that put in both rule books (since they have the largest footprint, they do a good job of covering the tiles and the tokens), followed by the starting boards, and finally the stack of dashboards.
