A client recently contacted us to see if we would be interested in creating an insert for Luxor. While we had played the game a few years ago at GenCon, we never had a chance to pick it up in the GenCon crush, and so while we were interested, we didn’t have access to a copy. Long story short, the client sent us their game and we were off to the races.
Tomb of the Pharaohs was a lot of fun to design, trying to make as efficient use as possible of the space and trying to balance between using or discarding the standard insert, while also designing to ensure everything was stable regardless of horizontal or vertical orientation.
This design accommodates all four Queenies as well as the Mummy’s Curse expansion. If you don’t have either of those expansions, the insert should still work fine, you’ll just have some empty trays and boxes, begging for something to hold.
As an added bonus, we designed a set of color matched player markers that have an Egyptian themed icon unique to each player (Ankh, Nefertiti, Pharaoh, Scarab, and Shen). These can be used to replace the original hex shaped tokens that were included just to be used as a reminder of what color you are.
As always, the design supports transport or storage, flat or on end. We have some more information on getting the most from this insert on our Tomb of the Pharaohs Tips and Tricks page.
