Port of Call – Our new insert tailor made for Container 10th Anniversary

Welcome to our newest insert – Port of Call, available now on our Etsy shop.

Do you spend more time un-bagging and re-bagging each of your 85 containers every time you play than actually playing Container?  No, of course not, no one does that.  Without doing that, what do you do with all the containers, as well as  machines, warehouses, and cash when you are done playing?  Oh, of course the elite container ships have their own comfortable berths in the box, but what about everyone else?  it’s just a free-for-all …. until now.

This collection of inserts is tailor made to hold all the pieces of the Container 10th Anniversary Edition board game, from Mercury Games, in individual compartments so that nothing shifts around in the box, even when it is stored on its side.

This set of inserts features:

  • Five Container Yard trays and covers with individual compartments for each container, (including 3 extra spots to hold extra containers) to keep them protected between games.

  • One Machine Shed tray and cover for storing all the machines

  • One Warehouse District tray and cover for storing all the warehouses in a honeycomb-like pattern

  • One Cash tray for storing money (separated by denomination), ready for play (cash tray is sized to accommodate sleeved cards) [NOTE: the cash tray sits under the ships when stored in the box]

  • One Card box for storing player, loan, and Investment bank cards (card box is sized to accommodate sleeved cards)

The design of these inserts leverages the existing cardboard insert shipped with the game. A few simple modifications performed by hand are necessary in order to have enough space for the inserts.  These modifications are simply bending selected sections of the cardboard insert to create the necessary space.  Instructions for these modifications, as well as tips on streamlining game setup and tear down, can be viewed on our Port of Call Tips and Tricks page.

Lastly, for those who did not originally purchase the extra containers (3 of each of the 5 different colors), we have a serviceable facsimile of the container that is also 3D printed.  The picture of the containers shows the original containers with their facsimiles.

Couple of things to note:

  • The 3D Printed colors are close approximations but do not match the colors exactly
  • The 3D printed containers are a fairly simple design as shown and do not have the “door” detail shown on the original containers
  • The 3D printed containers are approximately 1/2 the weight of the original containers

Container Yard, Machine Shed, and Warehouse District covers are adorned with theme specific permanent Oracal vinyl labels to help identify each box.
